The Child and Family Support Center spotlights community members at annual banquet

Mark Bergeson and Belva Hansen, community members who have made contributions to the Child and Family Support Center, were spotlighted at the center’s annual banquet held on March 27.

The 70s themed Blue Ribbon Banquet and silent auction was held at the Riverwoods Conference Center in downtown Logan to bring awareness to National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, spotlight community members and businesses and to help raise funds for the center.

Bergeson, from Bergeson Construction, was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award for volunteering to oversee the 2,100 square foot addition and remodel of the Hyrum center.

Hansen, a child advocate, was presented with the Benefactor of the Year award for supplying the center with funding for the new location in Logan.

Child and Family Support Center executive director Esterlee Molyneux said these community members have helped immensely with the improvement of the organization.

“There is no way to adequately describe the impact that these fine individuals have had on the center,” Molyneux said. “We could not have accomplished what we have done without them.”

During the banquet, these community members were spotlighted with a short professional video showcasing their contributions to the center.

In addition to the video, they were presented a small bronze statue of a child holding a starfish, symbolic of gratitude from the center.

Lee’s Marketplace, Intermountain Health Care, Ophir Spiricon and JBS were also awarded at the banquet for various contributions to the center this year.

Along with these spotlights, the banquet brought in $29,000 in funds to help the center with upcoming projects.

“It’s a pretty major event for us,” said Lynn Nelson, Child and Family Support Center associate director. “I think it was pretty successful.”
